St Andrews has a huge variety of pubs, bars, restaurants and cafes, party because of the tourism but also the thriving local community and university. These places are forever changing but the following are my current favourites.

THE NEW INN

Just down the road within a 5 minute walk, the New recently underwent a refurb and extension to its kitchen, good quality ‘pub grub’ and great wee beer garden at the rear. – PAM
THE SAINT

Gastro pub in the town centre near Westport arch, quality food, great cocktails and huge beer garden – PAM
THE ADAMSON

Consistently good for a number of years now with a menu that changes regularly. They also have a great cocktail bar next door (The Physician) for pre / post dinner drinks – PAM
PALOMPO’S ITALIAN ESPRESSO BAR

One of the newest coffee bars in town with authentic Italian coffee, sandwiches and cakes. Owned and run by young Archie, a direct descendent of the Palompo family – PAM
18 AT RUSACKS

A relative newcomer to town and first class dining with the most spectacular terrace overlooking the 18th fairway of the Old Course – PAM
LITTLE ITALY
–
Family owned and run, Little Italy is one of the most popular and busiest restaurants in town but you MIST book – PAM
JAHANGIR INDIAN

Great staff, great food and a local favourite for many – PAM
OLD COURSE HOTEL

The Old Course hotel has several venues to dine or drink including the Silken Loft, West Deck, Road Hole restaurant and the Jigger Inn. Not cheap but excellent – PAM
SEAFOOD RESTAURANTÉ

One of my favourite places to dine if I’m treating myself. A purpose build restaurant overlooking the rocks of the West Sands – PAM
HAMS HAME

Owned by the Old Course Hotel, a Gastro pub at the ground level of Hamilton Grand next to the 18th green of the Old Course, great burgers – PAM
TOM MORRIS BAR & GRILL

Owned by St Andrews Links the ‘clubhouse’ at the 1st tee of the New and Jubilee courses is great after a round of golf – PAM
TAILEND

Whether it’s for a take away fish supper or a meal in the restaurant at the rear, Tailed is super consistently good and owner by local fishmongers – PAM
